St Columbanus College Bangor Northern Ireland |
The Year 14 students have been working hard to come up with great ideas. At Christmas time they made candy canes, which were delivered as Christmas presents to pupils around the College. It was a very good idea and really took of. The pupils have also organized some cake sales, which of course are always a success. We are also trying to put in place a quiz for the junior school pupils and an Art exhibition showing off the talent of our GCSE students in the College for the close of the academic year (hopefully this will be a success.) Some of the staff have come up with a great idea to have a bookstall in the staff room and we charge a £1 for every book you take out, this has been extremely successful. As this is our first year fundraising for HUGS in the College we hope we have laid a good foundation on which to build next year. |

St Mary's Primary School Marple Bridge |
The children made HUGS their Advent charity, and set about fundraising activities. Around £300 was raised in this way.
When they learned that a group was going on a trip to Uganda, they wrote letters and made pictures to be taken to their soon-to be pen-pals in Uganda. The children were delighted to receive replies and really pleased to see photographs of the Ugandan children holding the St Mary’s artwork!
The St Mary’s pupils and staff look forward to strengthening the links being established between the schools over the coming year. |
